Netvibes – remix the web

by J Bluevibe on June 11, 2008

Just wanted to share my experience working with Netvibes to create a resource website for the musicians I work with. For those who haven’t seen Netvibes it’s basically an application which allows you to create your own homepage and customise it with a whole range of widgets which help you to:

  • Check your email
  • Search the web
  • Search for podcasts and videos – and play with them
  • Read feeds from your favorite blogs and news sites
  • Stay connected with your friends on MySpace
  • Get organized

Take a look at the PACE music netvibes page and you’ll get an idea of what you can do. You have the option to publish your private page and share all the resources you’ve gathered together with anybody. It’s very simple to use and a great way to gather all your favourite websites, RSS feeds, images etc in one location with the ability to share them with anybody.

It’s a great way for musicians to share a huge amount of online content with members of your band, your friends, your fans… you get the idea. The PACE music page took me about 2 hrs to set up and will be in development over the next few months, it’s got quite a few of my favourite music and industry blogs plus NZ music websites and employment opportunities for local musicians. Check it out and let me know how you gather and share all your favourite websites and feeds? Netvibes? Twitter? Google reader?
